The course:
The course starts at the spectacular Ridge at the Top of the Mall and winds down past Historic buildings of Shimla to the scenic PeterHof Hotel.
A VISUAL TOUR :

Shimla is at an average altitude of 7200 ft so if you are coming from the plains – spend a few days to acclimatize a bit. This is a tough but hugely scenic route. So don’t plan on a personal best in terms of time. It’s likely to be a personal best route. The looping course is full of facilities and will have opportunities for runners to ‘run into each other’ and cheer each other on and stop for many photo opportunities. IF you feel cold at the start – wear a couple of thin layers which you can give to a friend at the start point as you loop back at the mark. It is likely to get warmer from 8 am onwards so splash a bit of water over your head too, at the water points as you take a glug or two.
On Line registrations will open in June 2010- Please come to the Race Expo on Oct 2nd at Ashiana Restaurant the Ridge in Shimla - 9am to 2pm

Runningandliving.com expo and carbo loading lunch:
On
3rd Oct we would like to ensure you come personally to the marathon
expo – else you will miss out on a big part of the marathon experience
– information, tips and advice, great deals on running gear,
camaraderie and more.
The Race Expo:
At the Ridge – 10am to 2pm on Oct 3rd 2009
Pick up your running bibs, instructions, learn about the course, get great deals on Running and Living gear, Reebok shoes and pick up mementos to treasure when you get back home.
There will be spot registration for locals, people who have had trouble registering since there were some random issues with the online payment, so spread the word to your friends who would like to come and take part in the 6km run.
Cheering - This is not a race for qualifying for the London Olympics, nor will the world stop going around if you don’t come first, so smile, enjoy yourself and cheer others on, and you will surprise yourself by how well you end up doing, once you are a bit more relaxed. Trust me – The Race Director has run 29 marathons and is no athlete and has enjoyed every one of them – so check out this small piece of advice. Certificates and medals for all the half marathon finishers and a certificate for all the 6km finishers
Pre race lunch on Oct 2nd - - You may want to load up on some carbs and hydrate yourselves AND make a few new friends who you are going to be smiling at, and sweating with, on the 4th. You could team up at the expo and carry on in your smaller groups or get together with a bigger group for a lunch - do let us know how via email about the same and we would try and organise something for you all on the Ridge at a Restaurant there - The cost will be Rs 250 for Veg and Rs 300 for Non Veg Indian Buffet.
Post Race Snack -Nothing better than getting together with other crazy people post a gruelling half marathon, so we would like to plan a post race snack @ Rs 100 each at 1030 am at Ashiana Restaurant post the award ceremony
Photographs -We are sure you will all be coming with cameras as would love to get a download of the snaps at the finish line or better still over lunch, so that we can then send out a link to all of you and to the press with the entire repository of snaps. Give them to us over the snacks and your camera and our laptop will do the rest. :-)
Post race - for the half marathoners who have pushed themselves - a good idea to get into a cold tub once you get back to your hotel, or do some brisk walking for a good 10-15 minutes and not sit down immediately. A good cool down session would help stave off any cramps and get you in fighting shape for the Monday morning that follows.
On Oct 3rd we would love to have your friends and family wide awake and with you at the start lineand at cheering spotsalong the way. The Peterhof Hotel, The Ridge and St Bedes Chowk and Clarks Hotel are good locations - cheering, photography and if possible helping us out.
We need 6 people at the finish line for handing over medals to all the half marathon finishers and writing out the certificates for the half marathon and 6km finishers
Volunteer Requirement
We need another 6 people for recording the finish time for all the half marathoners for their certificates and another 6 people for manning the water point at the start/finish line.
Most importantly have a blast whether you are running, volunteering or spectating, because that will help make it the most spectacular run for all of us.
On Line registrations will open in June 2010- Please come to the Race Expo on Oct 2nd at Ashiana Restaurant the Ridge in Shimla - 9am to 2pm
